Workshop on the revision process on the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises

05 12 2009 - CEDHA
Workshop on the revision process on the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises

The Instituto Internacional de Estudios y Capacitación Social del Sur (INCASUR), the Centro de Derechos Humanos y Ambiente (CEDHA), the Fundación El Otro-Red Puentes, the Fundación SES, Poder Ciudadano and the Foro Ciudadano de Participación por la Justicia y los Derechos Humanos (FOCO Inpade) held a workshop on 24 November 2009 to reflect and discuss the process of revising the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.

The workshop was attended by Ambassador Rodolfo Rodriguez, responsible for OECD related affairs at the Argentinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and head of the Argentine National Contact Point, along with representatives from civil society and the private sector. The participants of the workshop shared visions and made, through constructive dialogue, first contributions to the process of revising the Guidelines. Ambassador Rodriguez stressed the importance of dissemination of the Guidelines and the construction of space for reflection and participation from all sectors in the coming revision process.

The OECD Guidelines were adopted in 1976 and last revised in 2000. In 2010, the Guidelines will take a new review process, whose primary objective is to adapt them to current realities and improving their effectiveness as a mechanism for corporate accountability.
