Calmecac

Calmecac is a non-profit organization that supports life and diversity, and seeks to ensure, with the participation of local actors, that natural resources are conserved or used in a way that is consistent with sustainable human development,. Calmecac’s program on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is orientated toward the indigenous communities Guatemala’s North Region. Calmecac works alongside the communities that are negatively impacted, both socially and environmentally, by the activities corporations. By joining the OECD Watch network, Calmecac seeks to extend its CSR program to other regions of the country with the purpose of diminishing the negative impacts of MNE activities in the communities and to exchange experiences at the international level with regard to legal liability, responsible business practice and environmental and social sustainability.
