Christian Aid

In 1945, the British and Irish churches created Christian Aid following world war II. Sixty years on, the organisation works with church partners, the ecumenical family and sister agencies as well as with alliances of other faiths and secular groups which share the aim to end poverty. Christian Aid  hopes to reach into communities to support projects which give men, women and children the power to control the structures and processes in their lives which keep them poor. Since women and girls are disproportionately affected by poverty, Christian Aid does everything possible to overturn the injustice which denies this section of society an equal share of resources and opportunities.
