LIW/ ICN– India Committee of the Netherlands

India knows many problems. However, there are a lot of organisations and people who try to solve these problems and who fight against injustice and violation of the environment and human rights. The Dutch organisation Landelijke India Werkgroep (LIW) works together with these organisations in India and uses this cooperation as a basis for campaigns. LIW aims for a better life for the poorest people in India. By means of support from the society, LIW tries to pressure the international politics to improve living conditions in India. An example to improve these conditions are 1) to make companies aware of their corporate responsibilities, 2) aid which really reaches the poor people in India, and 3) awareness of the violation of human rights of Dalits, children and victims of activities of ‘extreme religion’.
Objectives: Support deprived groups in their struggle against poverty, oppression, unequal treatment and degradation of their environment.
Activities: Awareness raising, campaigns, organization
