Poder Ciudadano

Poder Ciudadano, an apolitical and non-profit foundation, was founded at the end of 1989 by a group of people who where concerned with the defense of civil rights in our country.

The mission of Poder Ciudadano is to promote civic participation, transparency and the free and open access to information in order to strengthen democratic institutions through collective action. Their vision is a network of people and institutions engaged in public works on a local, national, and international scale, in open and democratic societies.

Some of the work’s core activities are:

  • Transparency: there is a permanent struggle in pursuit of the adoption and application of CSR policies among the companies. Furthermore, Poder Ciudadano, in its condition as Argentinian Chapter of Transparency International (TI), works with the tools given by that organization.
  • Global Compact (GC): work had been done in the pursue of the compliment of the GC principles by the companies. At the present, it is the intention to work in “conjunction” with the GC Focal Point to promote a fuller and adequate use of the tools given by the GC.
  • Argentinian CSR Platform: Poder Ciudadano is, since its creation, member of this network. The network was created with the purpose to work around a vision of CSR that promotes the compromise of the several social performers with the development of the human being in context of social inclusion and equity.
