Each year in preparation for the Annual Meeting of National Contact Points (NCPs) in June, OECD Watch evaluates the functioning of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises (Guidelines) and NCPs and their effectiveness in enhancing responsible business conduct.
OECD Watch 2008 Review of National Contact Points and the Implementation of the OECD Guidelines
At their 2007 Annual Meeting, NCPs agreed that the 2007/2008 implementation cycle on the OECD Guidelines should give priority to the improvement of NCP performance, and OECD Watch welcomes the effort by the OECD to review NCP activity. This follows the presentation by OECD Watch of its Model NCP which was intended as a positive contribution to the improvement of NCP performance. The Model NCP was the result of a broad, year-long multi-stakeholder consultation process.

OECD Watch 2006/07 Review of National Contact Points and the implementation of the OECD guidelines
The last year has seen growing consensus among NGOs, and policymakers that OECD governments need to greatly improve the policies and procedures of their National Contact Points (NCPs). Several calls to the OECD and national governments to adopt better procedures for implementing the OECD Guidelines have been made.

The Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises (Guidelines) are a set of voluntary principals and standards adopted by governments to which multinational enterprises operating in or from Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) member countries are expected to adhere.
