The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is an intergovernmental organisation founded in 1961 to promote global trade and investment. The OECD’s Investment Committee has oversight responsibility for the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises (OECD Guidelines), which are recommendations from governments to multinational enterprises on responsible business conduct. The OECD Guidelines require each country adhering to the OECD to establish a National Contact Point (NCP) to promote the Guidelines and resolve claims of corporate misconduct.
OECD Watch has a formal relationship with the OECD Investment Committee. We bring the perspectives and interests of individuals affected by corporate abuse into policy discussions and support NGOs and communities in filing complaints to NCPs.
