OECD Ministerial Meeting on responsible business conduct in the global economy, February 14th 2023, La Muette, Maud Bernos

Promover a política progressista da OCDE

We bring civil society voices and priorities into OECD policymaking on responsible business conduct.

O que fazemos

OECD Watch is the recognised civil society representative to the OECD’s Investment Committee and its Working Party on Responsible Business Conduct. We also advise other OECD initiatives relevant to corporate accountability. We  ensure the perspectives of communities, workers, and civil society shape the development and implementation of international responsible business conduct standards through three areas of work:

  • Ensuring inclusion of civil society
  • Shaping stronger corporate accountability standards
  • Defending progress on responsible business conduct

Bringing civil society to the table

We open doors for civil society to engage directly with government and OECD decision-makers on responsible business conduct.

  • Our global network shapes our priorities
  • We bring diverse civil society delegations to advocate at relevant OECD meetings
  • We help place civil society representatives onto OECD multistakeholder groups and events
  • We connect OECD and national policymakers with civil society experts
  • We represent the priorities of impacted people in OECD policy debates

Our work helps ensure that the voices of people most affected by business activities are represented in policy discussions.

Shaping stronger standards

We engage strategically across OECD workstreams and committees where responsible business conduct is on the agenda.

Working with civil society, trade unions, governments, businesses, and other experts, we advocate for stronger standards and policies on issues including:

  • Human rights and environmental due diligence
  • Apenas transição
  • Technology and AI supply chains
  • Indigenous Peoples’ and workers’ rights
  • Financial sector accountability
  • Development cooperation
  • Export credit policy
  • Investment treaties

Defending progress on responsible business conduct

We use our unique access to OECD policy spaces to build collective support for strong international standards.

Together with members and multi-stakeholder partners, we advance implementation of better business standards, challenge weak policies, and identify and respond to risks of regression.
