Sobre OECD Watch

OECD Watch is a global civil society network with more than 130 members in over 50 countries. Membership consists of a diverse range of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) as well as grassroots and community groups that share a common vision of the need for corporate accountability for negative impacts on people and the planet. The network is formally recognised as the representative of civil society to the OECD committee that promotes the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises on Responsible Business Conduct (Guidelines).

What does OECD Watch do?

OECD Watch undertakes a range of activities centred on empowering communities, rights defenders, and civil society to use the OECD, the Guidelines, and the National Contact Point (NCP) grievance mechanisms strategically. Together with our members we aim to achieve accountability for corporate harm and promote responsible business conduct. These activities include capacity building and case support, research and analysis, policy advising, and advocacy both at and beyond the OECD.

Our vision, mission and values

OECD Watch envisions a green, just, and inclusive world where political institutions govern economies and companies in a manner that prioritises the long-term wellbeing of the planet and its people.

To achieve our vision, our mission is to strengthen international standards and rules for responsible business conduct and support access to justice for people harmed by irresponsible business practices. In particular, we work to strengthen the standards, platforms, and mechanisms for responsible business conduct of the OECD by ensuring OECD policy recommendations are guided by civil society priorities and expertise.

We commit to operate with the same values we seek in the wider world:

  1. Accountability: We ensure our work methods and outcomes align with our mission and goals and serve the needs and priorities of our civil society network and partners.
  2. Justice: We ensure all our workstreams and methods are geared towards achieving a just future for all societies, with particular focus on those directly impacted by irresponsible business conduct.
  3. Inclusivity: We ensure our capacity building and coordination activities meet the needs of global civil society, and that our policy platforms and engagement with the OECD and governments are shaped by global civil society experience and expertise and led by our civil society network members and partners.
